Retreat update

Retreat Wrap Up: March 17, 2001

Hi Parents,

Just want to let you know what we did for retreat these last four
days. The theme for retreat is "Awakening". So there are dead
branches from trees all over campus and on them are sprouting "new
buds" made of paper and stuff….significant to our own awakening in the
spiritual realm. Some of the students asked why the dead trees were
used for decorations…..it took them a while to figure the symbolism
out.

Sunday: We all had breakfast together. The group from Sagemont
Church came down and was with us all these 4 days to do retreat
together. The other days we all got together by 10 am and did the
following. On Sunday was the only day we had to wake up early.
We did some games together to get to know each other and we were all
embarrassed together. We then did a lot of fun sports games and crazy
running around games. We had the Ten Commandments lecture after being
hot and tired and after that came LUNCH as we are were totally ready
for FOOD. We then had a time to just ask questions on spiritual
issues and discuss the answers. It was very insightful. After that
we had a choice to either take a nap or do devotions with the Sagemont
group. So each student picked what they wanted to do. Then we all
came together and did some group and team unity building games. We
headed back to the houses to take showers and get ready for DINNER.
Yes FOOD again. We ate and then had worship songs and Sagemont
brought their own band.. Yep pretty high tech for sure. Then someone
from Sagemont gave the nightly message and after that we broke up into
girls and guys and had a discussion on what we heard. Those students
who were on 3rd and 4th level were able to take an hour away with
staff members and do some fun stuff from 9 to 10 each night.
Most everyone got to head to bed though at 9 pm. So as you can see
our days were full as well as our nights.

We also were able to schedule a baptism service down at the river.
Students who received permission from their parents were baptized. We
had over 6 teens dedicate their lives to Christ during this retreat
and many rededicated their lives. I am sure if your teen was one of
these that they will share with you in the upcoming parent letter this
next week. After the time at the river, we then were given a
Hamburger/cheeseburger Bar B Q by the Sagemont group as well as
SomeMores around a huge bonfire. We also had a testimony time by both
staff and students.

The Lord is to be praised by all the changed lives over these past few days.
