Tuesday 10/5/10

RETREAT STARTS TONIGHT!
Today the students are relaxing around the house and will be heading down to school at 6:00pm for dinner.  We are going to have hamburgers and tostones.
After dinner we will be having some games and then a bonfire with s'mores.
It looks like it will be a very fun evening.
Remember since we are busy every night this week with retreat, there will be no phone calls.
I hope you all have a great day.
Take care,
Annie

Friday 9/24/10

Dear Parents,
We are having a rainy cold day.  I was just down at lunch with the kids and we had hamburgers, french fries and soda.  They were so excited!
Here is a note from my husband:
Escuela Caribe will be having a fall retreat starting Tuesday 10/05 with a dinner at 6p through Sunday 10/10 lunchtime.

The theme for this retreat is "On the Edge."  We will be having morning and evening chapels, and lots of fun activities such as games and workshops.

This comes in the middle of our trimester, and so will be a welcome break from the usual routine for staff and students alike, and most importantly an opportunity for all of us to focus on our relationship with Jesus Christ.

We are pleased to have Ken Tram as our retreat speaker this year. Ken is the Youth Director at New Hope Community Church. He is currently seeking a Masters of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary. Ken has traveled the USA and a few countries to share the Word through his creativity, insightful, comedic, and powerful message.  He has also led countless short-terms mission teams to the Caribbeans through Next Generation Mission and saw thousands of people commit their lives to Christ.  He enjoys snowboarding, camping (not too long though), movies, and joking around.  You can check Ken out on his website blog at http://www.ktram.com/

We would appreciate your prayers leading up to and during this retreat.  Pray that God will open up each persons heart to hear what God has for them - and that each one of us will respond favorably to God's call.

Friday 10/1/10

Good afternoon!
It is currently 1:45pm and 81 degrees outside.  It is a pretty cloudy day.  Last night Jeff and I had all the dads with their kids over for a BBQ and it rained most of the time.  At least our porch was dry.  Hopefully the rain will stay away long enough this afternoon because the dads & kids are mixing and pouring cement in a village nearby.
The Father's Working Visit is going well.  It is not always easy, but we really want to mend relationships in the families.  Tonight the dads will have a free evening.  The students will be back at the houses for a regular evening.  It is good to have a break once in awhile.
This coming Tuesday will be the beginning of the students retreat.  Here is what a daily schedule will be like:
RETREAT
10am games
11:30 worship
12:30—lunch
1:30—staff time/student quiet time
2:30 workshops
4:40 Ten commandments
5:00 Showers
6pm—Dinner
6:50 – mixers/MVP awards
7:20 worship
8:30 house time
9:00 Late night
Please pray that this will be a great time for the students to draw closer to God.
Take care,
Annie

Monday 9/20/10

Good morning!
It is currently 9:36am and 72 degrees outside.  It looks like it will be a nice day.
Mondays are the student's freedays, but if they are behind in school they have to go to school in the morning.  This morning is the first Monday we have had school so most of the kids are doing catch up work.  It is usually like this in the beginning of the year as they all try to get back into the school year.
This afternoon both student houses will be relaxing here on campus.
I hope you all have a great day.
Take care,
Annie
